  Lin Howard's art career began with posters and murals in grade school and high school. Later she made her living as a freelance portrait artist working in pastels. During this time,
she was commissioned to do a portrait of the wife of the then Governor of Illinois. She moved on to illustrate children's books for Grosset & Dunlap Publishers in New York.

   In 1987, she became a creative designer for Lasercraft Corporation. Her work there included all phases of design and product development. While at Lasercraft she designed some of the company's top-selling greeting card lines and picture frames for both their retail and custom product divisions.

   In 1995, while continuing to freelance, Lin joined her husband's growing graphic design business which specializes in label and brochure design as well as digital photography for advertising.
