"Have the Time of Your Life"

   Dominy Alderman has always been an artist at heart. Growing up in Alaska, she had always envisioned herself "making a life" as an artist. She would spend countless hours at her bedroom desk drawing, doodling, and practicing various styles of calligraphy.

    A self-taught artist, she felt at home during this creative time and somehow thought her contribution to the world would be through her hands. She completed a degree in elementary education at the University of Wyoming, where she competed as a Division I springboard and platform diver. After college, she taught elementary students in grades 4 to 6 for ten years. Although teaching was extremely rewarding, she continued to experiment with art and in the back of her mind she knew the artist in her was waiting to soar.

    Becoming a mom for the first time changed her life perspective. "I hope to be a mother who encourages my son to pursue his passions in life without reserve. For reasons I am unaware of, becoming a mother has given me the confidence that I was lacking before. I have decided that from this point forward in my life, I will live by the words that I will try to instill in my children. I love art - I love working with my hands - and i will BE an artist. I have recovered that youthful perspective I had on life and hope that it's reflected in my work."

    An optimist at heart, Dominy's work expresses positive energy and a cheerful outlook on life. She sincerely hopes that her art inspires other to go after their dreams as well.

    In addition to her current portfolio, Dominy has created wedding invitations, baby announcements, and Christmas and thank-you cards. In 2009 she illustrated the book Bring Your 'A' Game, a young athlete's guide to sport psychology and mental toughness. She currently resides in New Jersey with her husband, son and a pair of energetic Yorkies.
