"Scrimmage Line"

"Scrimmage Line"
by Alison Stein

Alison Stein is one of America's most exciting contemporary fabric and  tabletop designers.  Her art ranges from images ideal for home decor and accessories to imaginative patterns well-suited for fabrics for apparel and quilting, and even includes whimsical and unique motifs suitable for everything from medical scrubs to paper products, scrapbooking to wallpaper.

The artist has had many years' experience in developing lines of coordinating patterns for top textile producers in Los Angeles and New York.  Her experience in the area of line development has given her a unique perspective on shaping design concepts to market realities.

Alison employs a variety of media including gouache, watercolor and color pencils, and also utilizes software such as Illustrator and Photoshop to create lovely, timely and must-buy images.   She was trained first at Syracuse University, where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Surface Pattern Design, then at the Institute for Weavers of the split Rock Arts program at the University of Minnesota, and finally at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and was selected as a finalist for the 2001 Textile Association of Los Angeles (TALA) Award.
